London South Bank University - MSc Environmental & Architectural Acoustics

A big thank you to Dr Brad Backus and Dr Stephen Dance for having our group visiting one of their lectures and the Anechoic Chamber.

Dr Brad Backus presented a seminar on hearing as part of the Subjective and Environmental acoustics Module and amongst many things we learned about the outer, middle and inner ear, dancing hair cells, elephants ability to 'hear' through the earth vibrations and much more.

After the lecture we met with Dr Stephen Dance at the Anechoic Chamber and talked about the study of acoustics, the London underground announcement system as well as a whole range of associated topics.

Research visit to Brussels and Performing Objects

14-17 November 2014

To explore international links and connections with other Vision Forum groups we travelled to Brussels to meet up with the Performing Objects group.

Talking to Marjolijn Dijkman, artist and co-founder of the interdependent art initiative Enough Room for Space we learned about their project Performing Objects and its current development and how each artist had approached the idea of research and development, linking the common theme of performing objects to their own individual practices.

We also visited HOTEL CHARLEROI 2014 in Ville Basse, the lower part of Charleroi’s city centre which was co-initiated by one of the Performing Objects members.

We look forward to follow the development of each others projects.

Thank you Marjolijn and Maarten for hosting us!

First Public Event

For the inaugural event at Danielle Arnaud on the 29th October 2014 the Disembodied Voice group members presented material relating to their own practice and interests concerning ideas of the disembodied voice and its place in contemporary culture.

A range of related video clips and references came out as a result from the discussions. Here are links to some of them:
